The Wide-Awake Face Lift - Poll
Cellulite News Комментариев нет »
You may have seen it on TV or heard about it on your favorite social networking site. It's called the “wide-awake face lift”, and it's gotten tongues wagging.
The technique is not all that different from a traditional face lift, except that it is usually a shorter incision that ends just behind the lower ear lobe. The only significant difference appears to be thanks to advances in anesthetic formulas and techniques which allow a patient to remain awake for the entire surgery without experiencing any pain or discomfort. (Your doctor may offer an optional mild sedative to eliminate discomfort while the local anesthetic is injected.)
The benefit of the wide-awake face lift is clear: The riskiest part of any surgical procedure is the anesthesia. Some patients may even have pre-existing medical conditions that would prevent them from having a face lift due to their increased risk of anesthesia-related complications. Others simply have intense fear of “going under”.
However, being awake during face lift surgery is not for everyone. Personally, I don't know if I could handle being aware of what is going on while my face is being cut into, pulled, and sewn back together. What about you? Does this option make having a face lift a more appealing possibility? Or, like me, would you rather be unconscious for the whole thing? Take the poll.
